This past Friday, Helene came roaring through the Golden Isles just in time to RSVP to the biggest wedding of our season. She wasn't a gracious guest either-- she took 88% of our county's power (to include the entire island where the wedding events were being held) and felled several hundred year old oaks around the venues

But what do I constantly tell y'all-- "If you stay ready, you ain't gotta get ready".

Things sound good in theory. They look cute on inspiration boards on Pinterest. Expectations can be high, but must be rooted in reality. And you need folks ready to WORK and make it happen.

That's exactly what happened this weekend. In spite of our own personal and event related challenges, the things we (and I say WE because there is no way I could've done this without an amazing team...This is EXACTLY why I will die by my "production vs personal choices" when it comes to specific vendor requirements) were able to pull off were nothing short of miraculous.

And it all came down to proper preparation. Yes, the master production schedule was close to 40 pages-- but that came from not just hours of planning, but years of experience and education. It came from a bicoastal tribe that lent their expertise on an event that wasn't even theirs. It happened because when you know how to treat people, they actually WANT to help you and work with you.

My tip to you:

• STAY educated: learn something new, get familiar how EVERY vendor works.
• STAY connected: you are literally only as good as your network and the tribe that supports you.
• STAY humble: How you treat people matters. Act like you have some sense.
